What is a Personal Chef?

A personal chef is a chef who is hired by different clients and prepares meals based on their needs and preferences.

What areas do you cover?

For personal chef services, Chef Cassandra is available to cover the South Florida Region consisting of Palm Beach, Broward, and Miami-Dade Counties.

Who needs a Personal Chef?

Anyone who does not like to cook and/or has a busy schedule needs a personal chef to ensure that you and your family has consistent healthy and nutritious meals. A personal chef service is a luxury and provides customized menu planning, personal shopping, customized meal prep, and fresh food delivery based on clients needs.

Do you cook in my kitchen?

No. Heart and Soul Catering & Events is a licensed, insured, and certified business. We use a licensed commercial cooking facility located in the Wynwood Arts District in Miami, FL to prepare client meals. For more information about the facility, click here.

How much do you charge?

Chef Cassandra charges based on the number of meals needed for the household for seven days plus the cost of food, disposable packaging, and personal shopping time. Click here to receive a quote.

Do I heat the food?

Yes. All meals come in microwavable containers that are clearly labeled.  All you have to do is put them in the microwave when you are ready to eat, unless the meal is designed to be served cold like salads, some sandwiches, and wraps.

How long does the food last?

Seafood dishes will last for four days and will appear early in your weekly customized menu.  All other meals will last up to 7 days in the refrigerator. It is important to follow your customized menu that Chef Cassandra will provide the endure food safety standards.

Can you use my containers?

No. Chef Cassandra will provide disposable containers for a small fee. All meals will be labeled.

Can you provide meals according to my diet?

Yes.  Chef Cassandra is not a nutritionist however, she has extensive experience cooking meals based on client’s dietary restrictions. You will receive a questionnaire when you sign an agreement to indicate all of your dietary preferences and restrictions.  You will be able to approve or disapprove your menu a few days before the week begins.

Will you cook old family recipes for me?

No. Due to the number of clients that Chef Cassandra has, she and her staff cannot accommodate family recipes on a weekly basis.

Do I pay in advance of the cook date?

Chef Cassandra will send you an invoice ahead of time and payment is due on or before your delivery day. We cannot deliver food until payment is received.

What about the groceries?

You pay for your groceries in advance of your cook date. You can either pay Heart and Soul Catering & Events directly, shop for your grocery list that Chef Cassandra will provide on your own ahead of time, or use an app like Instacart to deliver groceries to our commercial cooking facility prior to the cook date.

The cost seems to be about what I would spend in a restaurant, why is that?

You are receiving a customized and luxury service. Chef Cassandra spends time creating customized menus based on your dietary restrictions and preferences. She also creates a customized shopping list, prepares your family’s meals for the week, and delivers them. Pricing is based on the value of all these customized services that you receive.

Can I give your personal chef services as a gift?

Yes. Gift certificates are available upon request.

Does the customer supply the ingredients?

Yes.

What is the difference between a personal chef and a caterer?

A personal chef creates weekly meals for each household.  A caterer provides food for small and large events.

What other services do you offer besides Personal Chef Services and Catering?

Heart and Soul Catering & Events provides catering, events, retreats, & personal chef services nationwide that are good for your heart & soul.

What is included in the price? What about tipping?

The service includes Chef Cassandra’s fee plus the cost of groceries. The service agreement indicates any additional costs for disposable containers, personal shopping time & mileage, and delivery costs outside of the Palm Beach County, Broward County, and Dade County region. If you enjoy your service and meals, tipping is welcomed and appreciated.

How do payments work?

Payment methods are Paypal, business check, cashier’s check/money order or cash. Payments made via Paypal will be charged a 4% service fee.  Please make business checks, cashier’s checks, and money orders payable to Heart & Soul Catering.  Clients receive invoices ahead of their cook dates and food cannot be delivered until payments are received.  Grocery payments are required ahead of time and can be made directly to the grocery store through Instacart.com.

What is your cancellation policy?

A 72-hour advance notice of cancellation or postponement is required for all services. There will be a $100.00 Nonrefundable cancellation fee. If no notice is received and menu planning & grocery shopping have been completed, the client will be billed for groceries and any services rendered. This will cover any expenses incurred, including the inability to book another client on such short notice.

What kind of ingredients do you use?

 Once you sign an agreement, you will receive a questionnaire indicating what types of ingredients you prefer. You will also be able to indicate any dietary restrictions and food preferences.

I only need meals for one person, can I order half the regular service?

The service includes two meals per day for seven days per household. Chef Cassandra’s fee is the same no matter if one person lives in the household or up to six people. Chef Cassandra puts her same heart and soul into each meal no matter how many people require meals.

Are the menus on your website for your personal chef service?

No. Those menus are only for catering events.  Personal chef clients receive customized weekly menus based on dietary restrictions and preferences. To see an example of a weekly customized menu for a client who requested low-calorie meals, click here.

Yes. Heart and Soul Catering & Events has a nationwide network of culinary professionals, event planners, and commercial kitchen facilities dedicated to bringing your event to life.  Heart and Soul Catering is a licensed, certified, and insured business based in Miramar, FL with a national reach.

What other services do you offer besides catering?

How do I request a quote for an event?

Click here to receive a questionnaire about your event. Chef Cassandra will set up a time to go over your questionnaire to ensure that she has a thorough understanding of your needs. She will then send you a quote via e-mail.

How much do your services cost?

Clients will receive a detailed proposal after completing an event questionnaire that Chef Cassandra will use to assess your needs.

Do you have menus that we can choose items from for our event?

Yes, to view menus, click here.  We do not provide a per person cost per menu item, because your event proposal may include several variables including and not limited to: menu items, staff labor, gratuity, rental costs, chef travel costs, chef lodging, etc.

How do payments for catering work?

Do you require a deposit?

A deposit of 50% of the event cost is due upon signing of the contract and booking a date. No dates will be booked without deposits and another event may be booked in that slot. The balance is due 15 days before the event.

What kind of ingredients do you use?

We customize catering menus based on client preferences for ingredients and accommodate for dietary restrictions.

What if I need to cancel? What is your refund policy?

Should you need to make any changes to your booking you can do so at any stage up to 10 days prior to the event. Final numbers will need to be advised 7 days prior to the event and that is locked in. If you wish to cancel the function entirely you can do so up to two weeks prior to the function. Your deposit will be refunded but we hold a 20% administration charge. If you cancel the function less than 14 days prior to the date, your deposit will serve as your cancellation fee.

Weekly Meals

How much does it cost?

Entrees are $8, sides are $3, desserts are $5, and breads are $1.50. Delivery is a flat rate of $16 for Broward, Palm Beach, and Miami-Dade Counties. All items are subject to a 7% sales tax.

What is difference between weekly meal delivery and personal chef services?

Our weekly meal delivery service has a set menu where you get to select your meals and have them delivered to you once a week.  These meals are mass produced and dietary restrictions and individual tastes are not considered when preparing weekly menu items.

If you have dietary restrictions, special diet considerations, or taste preferences, then our personal chef service is a better fit for you.  With personal chef service, Chef Cassandra customizes weekly menus based on you and your family’s dietary preferences and restrictions. She also does all the grocery shopping. Delivery is based on your schedule. This personalized service starts at $200 for 12 meals per week plus the cost of food.

Do I have to order every meal for lunch and dinner?

No. We want you to try our food and see what works best for you and your lifestyle. Order as little or as many meals as you like. Chef Cassandra develops a fresh menu of lunch, dinner, and dessert items for you to choose from weekly.

Is there a delivery fee?

The weekly delivery fee is $16.

How and when is it delivered? What if I’m at work?

We deliver on Thursdays. You’ll be able to choose the time and location that works for you. We can deliver to your workplace, your home, or another designated location. We can also leave with a neighbor or other designated person if that is better.

Do I have to sign up for so many meals at a time?

No. It’s completely up to you. You may order however many work for you and your family every week.

 Is there a trial?

Try our delicious food with your first order. There’s no obligation to continue or order every week. All you do is select what you’d like that week and we’ll deliver it to you.

Where do you deliver?

We deliver to Palm Beach County, Broward County, and Miami-Dade County. 

When’s the new menu posted? When’s the ordering deadline each week?

Our new menu is available every Friday by noon. Some weeks, the menu may be published a day early. If you create and account with us, we’ll email when it’s ready to view.

Ordering deadline for Thursday delivery is Monday at noon.

How many calories are in each meal?

Meals generally range from 300 to 1500 calories. Meals will show nutrition information on the menu and have nutrition labels on containers. The portions are generous, usually 6 oz protein with 2 cups of vegetables.  Carbohydrate side items are available for $3 each.

How do I heat the meals?

Each meal is individually portioned and packaged in a BPA-free, dishwasher-safe, microwave-safe container. All meals are pre-cooked, all you need to do is heat up in the microwave or on the stove top in a pan.

Can I customize a menu item?

We cannot customize a menu item due to the nature of a meal prep/delivery service.
